Breast Pathology

Our Breast Pathology service provides diagnostic expertise in benign and malignant diseases of the breast, directed by a fellowship-trained breast pathologist. We provide next day turnaround of most biopsies inclusive of estrogen and progesterone receptor testing, with complete HER-2 testing within 7 business days. We also offer molecular companion diagnostics including PDL-1, PIK3CA, and Foundation One.

Our focus is on high quality, evidence-based pathology with clear reports and easy access for our clinical colleagues. We are always available for discussion or review of internal or outside cases. Breast cases are signed out by one of our 3 breast pathologists, and all new malignant diagnoses are reviewed by at least 2 pathologists:

Dr. Kaitlyn Nielson completed anatomic and clinical pathology residencies at University of New Mexico and surgical pathology fellowship and breast pathology fellowship at Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Emily Waterhouse completed anatomic and clinical pathology residencies and surgical pathology fellowship at University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Aamir Ahsan completed anatomic and clinical pathology residencies at Danbury Hospital, affiliated with The Yale University School of Medicine and Hematopathology fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine.

Any of our pathologists are always available to discuss specific cases, emerging concepts in breast pathology, radiology-pathology correlation, or anything else!
