Gynecologic Pathology
Our Gynecologic Pathology service provides diagnostic expertise in benign and malignant diseases of the gynecologic. We provide next day turnaround of most biopsies, and offer molecular companion diagnostics.
Our focus is on high quality, evidence-based pathology with clear reports and easy access for our clinical colleagues. To ensure quality and standardization of reports, gynecologic pathology cases are signed out by one of our gyn pathologists, and all new malignant diagnoses are reviewed by at least 2 pathologists. Our pathologists are always available for discussion, including discussion of pap and HPV testing, retrospective review and correlation of paps and cervical biopsies, review of outside cases, emerging concepts in gynecologic pathology, radiology-pathology correlation, or anything else!
The director of our Gynecologic Pathology Service is Dr. Emily Waterhouse. Dr. Waterhouse completed a Surgical Pathology Fellowship and Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Monica Phillips completed anatomic and clinical pathology residencies at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, surgical pathology fellowship with a 3-month focus in gynecologic pathology at UCLA, and cytopathology fellowship at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Phillips directs the cytopathology laboratory, and is available for discussion of Pap cytology and HPV testing.
Dr. Elizabeth Moschiano completed anatomic and clinical pathology residencies at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Hematopathology fellowship at LAC + USC Medical Centers.
Dr. Kaitlyn Nielson completed anatomic and clinical pathology residencies at University of New Mexico and surgical pathology fellowship and breast pathology fellowship at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Aamir Ahsan completed anatomic and clinical pathology residencies at Danbury Hospital, affiliated with The Yale University School of Medicine and Hematopathology fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Toshi Ghosh competed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at Mayo Clinic. She then pursued two fellowships at Mayo Clinic, including Surgical Pathology and Multidisciplinary Breast Pathology, with advanced training in high-complexity breast diagnostics and multidisciplinary care.
